About Rafael Reyes

Rafael was born in El Paso, Texas and raised by a single mother. Her unwavering discipline and determination became the bedrock of his character that would define his decades of service to others. In 1992, Rafael enlisted in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic where he served his country around the world. These formative years expanded his perspective and deepened his commitment to public service. In 1999, he joined the U.S. Border Patrol, where he distinguished himself through exceptional performance and steady advancement, earning recognition for his effectiveness and dedication to community safety. Today, Rafael lives in Las Cruces with his wife Hilda. As a proud father and grandfather, he draws on his lifetime of experience, from military service, to law enforcement; he brings proven leadership to Doña Ana County. With decades of commitment to protecting and serving his community, Rafael is running to bring the same integrity, competence, and vision to the Office of Sheriff.
